David J. Davis, 78, passed away peacefully October 3, 2023 at his home in Mesa, Arizona. He was born June 6, 1945 in Vinton, Iowa to Glenn "Jiggs" and Martha J.(Garwood) Davis.
He graduated from Washington High School, Vinton, in 1963. He served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968. On August 16, 1969 he married Vianna L. Gilbert in Anamosa, Iowa. He received a BS Degree from Mt. Mercy College in 1977. He was a Realtor in Cedar Rapids and worked at the Dept of Corrections in Anamosa.

In 1986 the family moved to Mesa, Arizona. In 1993 he became a Police Officer and served with the Phoenix Police Dept, retiring in 2011. He loved to fly fish and enjoyed golfing & playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Vianna, a daughter, Channon (Tony) Sheeley of Little Rock, AR, a son, Brian Davis of Flagstaff, AZ, a granddaughter, Andrea Briner of Phoenix, a grandson, Blake Davis of Madison, AL, a great-grandson, John Harer of Phoenix and his sister, Christine (Dennis) Sharp, of Cedar Rapids. Sisters-in-law, Carolyn Gilbert and Colleen (Dennis) Dvorak both of Cedar Rapids and a brother-in-law, Butch (Anita) Gilbert of Montezuma, IA.
