Patsy and James resided in Mineral Wells where their three sons, Thom, Mark and Dan were born. In the early 1960's they moved to the Gilmore ranch located in the Finis Community in Young County where they remained for 42 years. She began a 20 year career as the food service manager of the Graham Schools. She was also the dietician for Graham General Hospital and five regional nursing homes.
In 1978 she became the owner/operator of the Chicken Place in Olney. In 1984 she and her sister Loretta Leach opened the Fourth Corner Mall in downtown Graham. In the early 1980's she became owner and operator of K-Bob's Restuarant which she operated for the next 15 years. Like her father,Harvey Gilmore, she was always interested in the progress and well being of the families of the Finis Community. Patsy was a 4-H adult leader for many years.
Among her survivers are her three sons; Thom Ranft, Mark Ranft and Dan Ranft; sister Loretta Leach.
