John Patterson, of Leaman Place, a Pennsylvania railroad employee, died on Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital from injuries received about three weeks ago. He was returning home from Kinzer's, where he had been working, and falling from the freight train he was on, dropped through a culvert. The accident occurred just west of Leaman Place. Paralysis of his lower extremities was produced by injuries to his spinal column. A wife and twelve children survive. (The Semi-Weekly New Era - Sep 15, 1897)Death in the Bush.
Ahout four miles from Digital) head Station on Monday the dead body of a man, aged about 50, was found in the bush. The man had been dead apparently ten days. The body had been mutilated by iguanas. A pocket book, with the name J. B. Patterson written in the fly-leaf was the only moans of identification. The swag contained a few artioles of wearing apparel. A magisterial inquiry was held on the spot, and a finding made in accordance with these facts. The body was buried where found.
