JUMPING BRANCH — Luther V. Basham, 88, of Jumping Branch, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at the Harmony House Nursing Home, following a long illness.

Born June 6, 1919, in Summers County, he was a son of the late Aden and Ollie Pack Basham.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army who served his country in World War II, an avid outdoorsman, who attended Bluestone Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Basham; six brothers, Zina, Clarence, Albert, Wesley, Dewey, and Kelly Basham; and two sisters, Mae Hatcher and Pearl Hylton.

Survived by a brother, Oscar Basham and wife Ruth of Jumping Branch; a sister, Irene Gibbons of Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews, numerous friends, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Austin Cemetery at Lerona.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral parlors.
