Barbara Jean Becker, 67, of Binghamton, ascended into heaven on December 12th. She was greeted there by her mother Jean, her father Robert, and her sister Judy. She is survived by her sisters [redacted] of Binghamton, NY and [redacted] of Berryville, VA. She is also survived by a nephew [redacted], and several nieces [redacted]. The hardest thing for her to leave here on earth was her three great nieces and six great nephews all who will be reminded of her great love for them and her laugh.
Barbara graduated from Binghamton North High School and received two degrees from Broome Tech - one in Early Childhood Education and one in accounting. She worked at Penn York Medical Supplies until she retired. Although Barb never married and never had any of her own children, she raised and nurtured many. She was the caretaker and constant in [redacted]'s life. She adored him. Barb was so proud of all he accomplished, and loved watching him sing, act and dance at EPAC. Barbara not only cared for [redacted] but was very dedicated to her parents and her sister Judy during their illnesses. She never complained and somehow managed to maintain her friendships. She was always up for a good laugh.
Barbara started as a teenager working in the church nursery and as the children grew, she grew with them and became their youth leader. The stories are endless from teaching them to drive, to their youth retreats at Sky Lake, and a big trip to Buffalo for a Billy Joel concert. Their compassion for her as she became ill was a blessing to her and her family.
Most of Barbara's life revolved around her churches. She started her faith journey at Fairview United Methodist Church. Recently she began attending West Windsor Baptist Church after reevaluating the focus of her faith and the need for the Bible to be at its center. She was baptized by immersion a year ago and her faith journey reached an incredible high. She had a strong faith community of friends called "Beacon of Christ" that grew from an online Bible study. Those friends were instrumental in assisting her as her life on Earth drew to an end.
A Celebration of Life will be at West Windsor Baptist Church on January 14, 2023 with visitation at 10:00 am and a service following at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to assist with funeral expenses and towards [redacted] upcoming expenses.
