Ursula was the 6th of 11 children born to John & Margaret (Hubble/Hubbell) Whited. The first 4 were born in Virginia, then the family moved to Indiana, settling in Shelby County.

She married David Bishop there on August 27, 1836. They had 5 children when they came to Madison County Iowa in 1846. They were the eleventh family in the county, establishing a home on section seven in South Township. Nine more children were born to the couple in Iowa.

Ursula was a member of the Christian Church at Winterset.
After David died in 1865, she married her deceased sister's husband, Elijah Alexander in 1868. After he died in 1871, Ursula made her home with her son A.H. Bishop.

**
Ursula was but a girl of 14 when she became the second wife of David Bishop, and mother to his 3 year old son, Joshia Goodman Bishop. She was only 15 when her first child, who died in infancy, was born. She and David had 14 children before his death in 1865.
