Spinning along the pikes of Middle Tennessee in an automobile in the early days of fall has long been known to be conductive to poetry and to the construction of castles in the air and - - to matrimony. Thus it was that a beautiful girl from the arid plains of Texas was charmed and Miss Nina Alice Cox, of El Paso, became the bride of Mr. Samuel S. Simpson of Aspen Hill.
Miss Cox was a student at Martin College, Pulaski; Mr. Simpson is a prosperous merchant at Aspen Hill. They were out for a spin Friday afternoon when Cupid took charge of the steering wheel and drove them straight to the office of County Court Clerk A. W. Lipscomb, where the official license was secured. With ‘Squire Hugh Webster as the officiant at 9:30 last night they were united in marriage at the Smiser’s Drug Store in the presence of those who happened to be there. They returned to Aspen Hill Saturday morning after being guests of the Bethel House last night.
It is said by those who witnessed the swedding that the bride was one of the most beautiful girls that ever graced the streets of Columbia and that the fortunate groom was himself a man of striking appearance.
