Margaret Ann Adkins, 75, passed away on September 1, 2023 at Envive of Hartford City surrounded by her loving family.

She was bon on April 24, 1948 in Hartford City to Marvin Nelson Adkins, I and Evelyn R. (Harden) Adkins. Her parents preceded her in death.

Margaret graduated from Hartford City High School in 1966. Margaret's greatest joy came from being a mom, when she had Ruth Ann, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She cared deeply for all of her family, but when her grandchildren were born, they became her world, and she was gifted with another one of her favorite names, Grandma T. She was more than happy to make time for family and never hesitated to give them her undivided attention. She was selfless and gave her all to her family and to her job of 23 years. She was an QMA at Community Care Center, now Envive, until her retirement on May 5, 2000. She considered her work crew and residents her extended family. She was always willing to help and would try her best to always be the person you would turn to. She never met a stranger and her smile could light up the room.

She loved to crochet and spent hours making items from yarn. It might be believed that she liked to have lots of yarn on hand, maybe so that she always had the color and type for any project or maybe she loved finding deals at the craft store or she might have just been a yarn hoarder, (LOL), the family is still undecided at this time. She loved to help others so her famous yarn collection was donated so others could find great joy in crocheting. While living at the nursing facility over the past two years she loved the activities that were provided for the residents, she was also the Resident Council President. She truly loved helping others and being a part of someone's smile.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Christopher L. Collis of Hartford City; grandchildren, Marvin N. Adkins, III and his fiancé, Raelynn Howard, Jestine Lynn and husband, Brandon Hayworth and William Lee Collis; great-grandchildren, Nariah Lee-Ann Hayworth and Jackson L. Collis; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn L. Duane DuBois of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her brother, Marvin N. Adkins II and her great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Ann Hayworth, who passed away on September 1, 2016.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City with Rev. Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am to 2 pm Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the funeral home.
