"Funeral services for Bennie Hays Jr., 65, of 805 West Emory Street, Marshall, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Lewis Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Willie J. Small officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Hays died Sunday, August 1, 1982, in Marshall Memorial Hospital. He was born August 16, 1916, in Marshall, the son of Bennie and Mary Simpson Hays. He was a laborer at ICI Americas until his retirement on February 1, 1969. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church No. 1.
Survivors include his wife, Odell Harris Hays, of Marshall; his mother, Mary Hays, of Marshall; one brother, Elder Curtis Hays, of Marshall; four sisters, Lucy Bradfield, of Marshall, Claudia McDaniel, of Elysian Fields, Luella Straughter, of Longview, and Julia M. Nesbitt, of Oakland, California; five nephews and five nieces."
