Thelma Doris O'Toole, 95, of Burleson passed away Saturday evening August 26, 2023. She went peacefully at the Grandview Nursing Home.

"Dodie" was born to her parents Herbert Alvin Jewett and Thelma Gladys Jewett at home in Fort Worth Texas. She was the oldest of four siblings. She went to school in Watauga and Keller but her favorite memories were of the little school house on Bethesda Rd. The same road her family took up residence on and where her family home still sits.

When she graduated Burleson she moved to Fort Worth and began a long career in customer service at Montgomery Wards. She spent 30 years there and retired with many lifelong friends. She would come home on the weekends to take care of her parents and clean house. After her mother passed she moved back home and cared for her father until his passing and also cared for her uncle Frank Jewett until he passed. Retirement didn't end her working life. She then went on to take classes and become an aid and began working in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

She left a mark on so many hearts. Caring for others was the calling card of her life. Having no children of her own she would spoil and love on those that would let her. She often spoke of coming home on the weekends and spending time with her nieces Sheila Purdy and Phillis McTaggart and later Philis' two sons Brian and Brandon and the joy that brought her. Or the time she spent with her niece and nephews Paula, Lee and Wade Jewett. When her niece Tara was born she made herself available 24/7 to babysit, Dr. Appts and school pick up. She made sure Tara went to church and was the guiding force in her niece knowing Jesus. She then doted on Tara's children who were the joy of her later years.

She was married at the age of 70 to John O'Toole and even though they divorced she remained close with the family especially his son Terry O'Toole and his wife Rosie and their children and grandchildren.

She stayed sharp minded always wanting to know what people were up to until the end. She also kept her sass and firey personality. She would say,"How will they know what I think if I don't tell them?"

She was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Jewett, her father Herbert Jewett, her younger sister Vera Moore, her youngest brother David Jewett and her step-son Terry O'Toole.
