FAMILY SEARCH 2023. When George Douglas Atwood was born on 23 August 1924, in Midvale, Salt Lake, Utah, his father, Walter Augusta Atwood, was 52 and his mother, Hannah Ellen Chadwick, was 39. He married Christie Johanna Sorensen on 5 April 1945, in Provo, Utah, Utah. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Ogden, Weber, Utah in 1930. He registered for military service in 1943. In 1954, at the age of 62, his occupation is listed as grounds keeper for the Utah state hospital in Provo, Utah, Utah. He died on 20 June 2006, in Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah, at the age of 81, and was buried in Spanish Fork.

PASSAGE. George Douglas Atwood, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and loving friend, passed away at his home in Spanish Fork on June 20, 2006.

Born August 23, 1924, in Midvale, Utah to Walter A. and Hannah Ellen Chadwick Atwood, the last of 15 children. He was raised in Spanish Fork Canyon and attended school in Thistle and Spanish Fork.

He married Christie J. Sorensen on April 5, 1945 in Provo, Utah and the marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on April 30, 1958. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in April.

He served in the U. S. Army in World War II and was employed at Utah State Hospital as Grounds Supervisor for 32 years, retiring in August, 1986. He enjoyed oil painting, writing his history in poetry, fishing, and time spent at his Indianola retreat.

Active in the LDS church, he served as Stake clerk, Ward clerk. Bishop, and in many Scouting positions. He loved the youth and especially the elderly people. He taught his sons and grandsons the value of hard, honest work.
