HOOPER – James E Penman, 68, of 5292 W. 4600 S., died today, July 13, 1979, at an Ogden hospital.
He was born March 24, 1911, in Ogden, a son of Edward and Ida Jones Penman.
He married Edna Lambert on October 20, 1930, in Ogden. The marriage was solemnized February 2, 1932, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He had been a diary farmer and school bus driver.
He was a member of the Hooper 2nd LDS Ward and had served stake and regional missions. He had been counselor in the Elders' Quorum Presidency , Secretary of the High Priest Quorum and had been active in the Lakeview LDS stake senior Aaronic Priesthood program.
He had been president of the Hooper Farm Bureau for two years, vice president of the Weber County Farm Bureau for two years, and had been water master and director of the Hooper Irrigation Company.
He had been president, ditch rider for 20 years, water master and director for 20 years of the Wilson Irrigation Company.
Surviving are his widow of Hooper; one son and four daughters, Jay Penman, Mrs. Jay (Janet) Stoddard, both of Hooper; Mrs. Gene (Adrienne) Williams, Parker, Idaho; Mrs. Kenneth (Nadine) Parkinson, Ogden; Mrs. Verl (Joanne) Larkin, Stockton, California; 19 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Leo J Penman Hooper; Mrs. Ralph (Marguerite) Child, Hazelton, Idaho; Mrs. Lloyd (Melba Kaye) Smith, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Hooper 2nd Ward Chapel, 5900 W. 5000 S., with Bishop C, Jay Simpson officiating.
Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Roy Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
Burial will be in the Hooper Cemetery.
