HOOPER– Mrs. Ida Jones Penman Arave, 83, of 5100 S. 7500 W., died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Arave was born October 4, 1888, in Hooper, a daughter of James H and Sophia Ducloux Jones.
On December 22, 1909. She was married to Edward Penman in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died November 2, 1950. On January 29, 1954, she was married to Warren Arave in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was a member of the Hooper 3rd LDS Ward and was former president of the West Weber Ward MIA. She had been active in drama, had been a Relief Society visiting teacher, and active in the Sunday school and MIA in the West Weber and Hooper wards.
She and Mr. Penman had served as superintendent and matron of the Weber County Hospital. She had been a dorm mother of Bertha Eccles Hall for Weber College and been active in the Weber County Farm Bureau.
She had lived in West Weber, Roy and Ogden prior to returning to Hooper.
Surviving are her husband of Hooper; two sons and two daughters. James Penman and Leo Penman both of Hooper; Mrs. Ralph (Marguerite) Child, Jerome Idaho; Mrs. Melba Kay Steck, Salt Lake City; four stepdaughters Mrs. Lucas (Margaret) Wessell, Lincoln, Nebraska; Mrs. Ansel (Dorothy) Hall, Yuma, Arizona; Mrs. Leroy (Viola) Meyer Hooper; Mrs. Cecil (Melva) Scholl, Ogden.
Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; 20 step grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 29 step great grandchildren; two-step great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Parker, Mrs. Morris (Kaye) Smith both of Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1p.m. in the Hooper 3rd Ward Chapel with Bishop M. Fred Johnson officiating.
Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel in Hooper Thursday one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in the Hooper Cemetery.
