Passed away at home on Friday,
4-4-2008, following a short illness.

He is survived by his
wife of almost 62 years,
Madge (Cadle) Meadows;

Daughters:
Pamela (Meadows) Waldorf; Paula Meadows, and son-in-law, Michael Waldorf all of Bloomingrose, WV;

Granddaughter,
Laura [Jeremiah] (Waldorf) Dow, Barboursville, WV;

Sister
Jane (Meadows) Keffer, Charleston, WV;

Nephews:
James S., Woodrow G., Hobert J., William M., Joseph M., Ronnie W., and John C.;

Nieces:
Joan Meadows Harris, Mae Meadows Hamilton, Kristina Meadows Nelson, Mary Meadows, Lena Meadows, Sue Fauber Wood, Kay Fauber Stone;

Comfort, Boone County, WV, he was a

Son of the late
Frank H. Meadows
and
Lena (Roach) Meadows.

As a life-long resident of Boone County, WV, he graduated from Sherman High School in 1939.

Drafted in January 1942, he was one of the first men from this area to answer the call for service in WW II.

Staff Sergeant Meadows served with the Headquarters Company, 43rd Division, 169th Infantry in the Pacific Theater where he participated in the battles of:
Guadalcanal,
Luzon,
New Guinea, and the
Northern Solomons.

Returning home at the end of the War, he married his high school sweetheart on April 13, 1946.

Sanford retired in 1982 from the WV Department of Highways as a Right-of-Way Agent.

He was a member of the
Church of Christ,
Bloomingrose, Boone County, WV, and frequently attended services at Peytona Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents,

Gallipolis, OH, officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 PM on Sunday,
4-6-2008, at the Church.

Burial will follow at
Pine View Cemetery,
Orgas, Boone County, WV, with

Military grave-side rites conducted by
VFW Post # 5578 of Madison, Boone County, WV.
