Major-General Beckwith who is buried in the grave yard "was well known as the brave
and excellent office who commanded the twentieth Regiment at the Battle of Minden.
Two of his sons followed the career of their parent and one attained the rank of
General, the other Lieutenant-General : the latter died when commander -in-chief
of the forces in the presidency of Bombay. after serving most gallantly in nearly all
the great battles in Spain and Portugal, during the continental war."
