Dessie was born Thursday, June 29, 1916, in Wise County, near Paradise to Oscar Eugene Brewer and Sara Pauline (Kaker) Brewer. She moved to Slaton in 1922 with her parents and brother and sister. Dessie graduated from Slaton High School in 1933 and later attended Draughn's Business College. She had worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for a number of businesses; today we would call her an office manager.
Dessie married George William White Jr. on Feb. 6, 1946, in Lubbock; shortly after they met each other in Slaton. Then shortly after their marriage, they moved to Borger. George preceded her in death on Friday, March 4, 1994. In October of 1996, Dessie moved to Lubbock.
She was an active and faithful member of St. Andrew Methodist Church in Borger. She was also a member the Ladies Circle organization. Everything that she did outside the church depended upon the activities of the Ladies Circle organization.
Dessie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Spencer Brewer; sister, Viola Stokes; and great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Wilson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gyron White and Alton Hall, both of Lubbock, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Burial 8 Apr 2008 Dessie Mae has no headstone. She is buried second space to the left of the headstone for Pauline and Oscar Brewer. Her husband, George, is buried next to her at the corner.
