John (Jay) Lawrence, age 89, of Harrison passed away on August 21, 2023. The son of Joe and Charlotte Lawrence of Harrison, he was born June 1, 1934.

Jay was preceded in life by his wife Marcille Lawrence.

Jay was from Harrison but spent a lot of his life in education in Stuttgart, where he was High School Principal, and Pine Bluff, where he was Headmaster of Jefferson Prep School.

He was a devoted member of First Christian Church and served on many mission trips.
Jay went to college at UCA where he played quarterback on the football team and later in life became a member of the UCA Hall of Fame.

Jay is survived by his brother, David Lawrence; his sons, Andy and Michael Lawrence; and grandchildren, Christina Lusinger, Drew, Morgan Mason and Maggie Lawrence, and Jeffrey, Amanda, Cody, Allison, Dylan and Travis Martin; and also his lifelong friend, Bud Grisham of Harrison.
