Burial will follow in Fairview North Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

She passed into the arms of Jesus on August 21, 2023 at her home in Estelline with her loving family at her side. She was met and given her crown of jewels for her work and faithfulness here on this earth.

Linda was born June 21, 1946 to Clarence and Kathleen Hickman in Dallas. She graduated in May of 1965 from Childress High School and married the love of her life, Darrell Collins, on September 3, 1965 at First Baptist Church in Childress, where she was a member. She and Darrell spent 57 years of marriage bliss. After college in Lubbock, they moved back to Estelline to start a family. There, Darrell taught school for a few years before they began farming and ranching in 1969.

From being a city girl, Linda embraced the farm life with a passion. Whether it was driving a tractor or truck to checking and doctoring sick cattle to fixing a broken fence, she did it all. She was always by Darrell's side, whether it was work or pleasure. There was not much she couldn't do. She was a wonderful mother and wife who was an excellent cook and a full partner to Darrell in the golf course business for nine years, as well as bookkeeper for Hulver Gin for numerous years. She was involved in farming and ranching for 54 years.

Linda's energy and love was inviting and people were just drawn to her. She was always ready to lend helping hand to anyone that needed it. The world has lost an incredible force, but heaven has gained a special soul.

Linda knew that by choosing a certain course of treatment, her life might be extended, but her question to that was at what cost? Linda lived big, loved big and she had no intention of slowing down or giving anything less than her everything. She fiercely and courageously fought her disease. She faced her mortality but always on her own terms. We think it was her positive and energetic spirit that kept her living life to the fullest. Giving, loving and appreciating everyone and everything with the time she was given without ever complaining. There is no way we can express our gratitude to the many angels that encouraged and prayed for her during this time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Kathleen Hickman; her in-laws Tom and Helen Collins; a sister-in-law, Rose Marie (Collins) Davis and a nephew Devin Hickman.

Survivors include the love of her life, Darrell Collins; son, Craig Collins; daughter, Farrah Holcomb and husband, Tommy; grandson, Bradyn Farris, all of Estelline; granddaughter Chelsey Rogers and husband, Scott, of Midland; granddaughter Hayley Helm and husband, Bo, and their children Daniel and Andi Helm of Childress; her brother, David Hickman and wife, Sherri; and a sister, Mary Jane Cozad and husband, Ray, all of Childress along with numerous other family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda's name to Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice or Meals on Wheels.
