James - and presumably Letitia - immigrated to New Zealand in 1868 with James' brother William Henry and others (Saint John Morning Freeman, Sat 06 Jun 1868), but they returned December of the same year.

As of 1871 Letitia, James and their children were living in Saint John, but by 1881 they had moved to Fredericton.
