She worked for the H. Christian Railroad Hotel and Livery in the 1850's in Port Byron, Cayuga County, NY. Brothers John & Richard Wallin did so tending horses at the Livery.

Mary Ann Walling married Horace John Christian, son of John Christian and Reuhannah Tefft on Dec. 23, 1858 and lived in Mentz, Cayuga County, NY until they moved to Burlington, Calhoun County, MI, after the 1870 Census, in 1876. Horace John Christian died Aug 5, 1877 in Fredonia, Calhoun County, MI from a horse kicking him and was found in the field.

—Mary A. Christian, widow of the late Horace J. Christian, formerly of this town, died at her home in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Monday, December 25th (error, Dec. 18th, 1905). Mrs. Christian was born in England March 1st, 1841, and came to this country with her parents when eight years of age (she came at age 4, in 1845). She was married to Horace J. Christian in this village, December 23rd, 1858, removing to Kalamazoo, with her husband in 1876.

She was a constant or consistent Christian woman and a member of the Baptist church. The following children survive: De Forrest of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Hattle K. Hall, and Mrs. Ida L. Young, of Kalamazoo. Mrs. Carrie M Brown of the same city, also survives.

Mrs. Mary A. Christian
Mrs. Mary A. Christian, widow of Horace J. Christian, died at 12:30 o'clock Monday morning at her home. 730 north Rose street. Death resulted from a three weeks illness of paralysis. The deceased was born in London, England. March 1. 1841 coming to this country when eight years of age. She was married to Horace Christian in Port Byron, N. Y., December 23, 1868, coming to Kalamazoo in 1876. She was a member of the People's church and was very charitable in assisting the sick and poor. There survive the following children: DeForrest of Grand Rapids, who is now in the city; Mrs. Hattie E. Hall and Mrs. Ida L. Young, of Kalamazoo. There are also three grandchildren, Verta Christian, Grand Rapids; Raymond and Charles Young. Kalamazoo; and a sister, Mrs. Carrie M. Brown, of Kalamazoo.
