Mildred Maxine Scott, 90, of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Jean and Floyd Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Maxine requested that instead of sending flowers that you consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

Born August 20, 1932, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Earl Joseph Banks Sr. and Fairy Marie Parson Banks. Maxine lived in Marshall her entire life and was a 1950 graduate of Marshall High School. On June 6, 1954, she married John Wesley "Scotty" Scott Jr. who preceded her in death on December 22, 1997. In addition to being a homemaker for her family, she had worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and then as a bookkeeper for the family business, Scott's Auto & Truck Repair and Marshall Lumber Company. Maxine was a lifetime member of the Community of Christ Church and had previously been a member of the local quilters guild.

Survivors include three children: Vicki Scott of Marshall, David Scott of Blue Springs and Laura Anderson (Barry) of Marshall; five grandchildren: Michael Scott, Erica Jobe (William), Jacob Kerksiek (Christie), Andrew Scott (Angelica) and Aaron Kerksiek; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Jo Baker of McMurray, PA; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a daughter-in-law, Judy Scott; and two brothers, E.J. and Dean Banks.
