Alva Dean Banks, 94, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, April 29, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Fitzgibbon Home Health and Hospice and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born January 16, 1929, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Earl Joseph Banks Sr. and Fairy Marie Parson Banks. Dean lived in Marshall his entire life and was a 1946 graduate of Marshall High School. On June 13, 1948, he married Zella Lucile James who preceded him in death on August 30, 2015. Dean took special courses in electrical and architectural drafting, and served 10 years in the Missouri Army National Guard. He worked for five years at the International Shoe Factory in Marshall and then for 14 years at Western Auto in many capacities moving up to store manager. In 1965, Dean purchased Earl J. Banks Trucking from his father, changing it to Banks Moving and Storage. He retired from the moving business in 1992, passing it to the next generation, his sons and daughter. He was a member of the Odessa Restoration Church Branch of Jesus Christ. Dean loved to travel with his wife spending winters in Florida and Texas. He also enjoyed giving rides on his farm gator to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dean is survived by two sons, Roger Banks (Lesa) of Marshall and Michael Banks (Jo) of Warsaw; one daughter, Brenda Davis (Jimmie) of Marshall; one sister, Maxine Scott of Marshall; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Joseph Banks Jr.
