The son of John M. "Jack" and Clarinda Matilda "Tillie" (Harris) Rupe.
He spent most of his life in Washington State. He spent part of his early life in Montana.
He married Elma Anderson on Aug 19 1919. They had two sons. Elma had a stroke when the boys were young. She had to be placed in a nursing home in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington.
Ernest never remarried.
Ernest raised his boys on his own. He was quit the disciplinarian. But, the boys grew up to make him proud. Orville, like his father, was a hard working family man. While his youngest son Jack, graduated from Annapolis Naval Academy, married and had two girls.
Ernest was in the US Army in the First World War.
Lived in Algona from 1930 to 1941.
Member of the Auburn American Legion.
Ernest, a steamfitter, retired from Todd Ship Yard in Seattle, Washington. He was a former longshoreman. Was a member of Local 32, Plumbers & Pipefitters' Union.
He suffered a fatal heart attack on his way home from Yakima. At the time of his death, he had been living in Burien, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Tillie Rupe. And his brother, Archie Rupe.
He is survived by his wife Elma, two son's, Orville A. Rupe of Seattle and Jack W. (Dorothy) Rupe, of Kentonville, Md. three sisters, Mrs Philip (Stella) Brewton, Mrs Ted (Dolly) Hansen and Lillie Chambers, and a brother, Chester Rupe, all of Seattle, and four grandchildren, Robert, Sheila, Jackie and Susie.
