Opal Mae McMahan, 92, passed away in Lubbock, TX on Monday, March 31, 2008. Opal was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, OK, but had been living near her family in Lubbock for the last four years. Opal was born in the hills of Tennessee on February 2, 1916 to William and Ollie Pippin and was the baby of eleven children. She was a graduate of Classen High School of Oklahoma City a member of the local Moose Lodge where she enjoyed her passion for dancing with her closest friends and an active member of the Mayfair Church of Christ for more than 40 years. Opal was a pioneer for women in business as one the first female executives at Sear Roebuck and Co., where she retired after 43 years of service. Opal is survived by her three grandchildren, Terri Barnett and Steve Frehulfer of Lubbock, TX and Tammi Burt of Studio City, CA four great grandchildren, Brittany and Joshua Barnett and Jason and Shaleen Frehulfer and two great-great grandchildren Lucas and Azayla Farrell. Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, W.E. McMahan, and her daughter, Shirley Frehulfer. Graveside services, presided by Virgil Trout will be held at Chase Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 2:00pm. Memorials may be made to Mayfair Church of Christ, 2340 NW 50th Street Oklahoma City, OK, 73112, 405-842-2993. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
