Shirley Lou Frehulfer, 69, of Lubbock, passed from this life Monday, May 7, 2007, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Sanders Funeral Home.

Mrs. Frehulfer was born Sept. 20, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Opal McMahan and the late Clarence Baggett. She moved to Lubbock with her family in 1971 after traveling for several years with her husband in the Air Force. Shirley was a member of the Executive Secretary Association and Lubbock Redbud Lions Club, where she enjoyed helping others. She most recently enjoyed looking into her genealogy and was excited about finding her many cousins across the United States. Shirley was a die hard "Okie" and you could catch her watching OU Football every Saturday rooting for her team. Her other great passion was watching her grandson play football and baseball at Cooper High School; when she became unable to attend you could always catch her listening on the radio. Grandma, as she was known to many, was always excited to hear about all of her grandchildren and their great adventures and was always excited to see their bright smiles.

Shirley is preceded in death by a son, John Dennis Stimson in 1960; her father, Clarence Baggett in 1984; and husband, Nelson Frehulfer in 1989.

Those left to mourn her passing include her mother Opal Pippin McMahan; a son, Steve Frehulfer and wife Renee'; and two daughters, Terri Barnett-Morse and husband Homer and Tammi Burt. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Jason Frehulfer, Shaleen Farrell, Joshua and Brittany Barnett; two great grandchildren; and her dog and loyal companion, Buddy.

In addition to the immediate family, she was recently blessed with three more grandchildren and four great grandchildren when Steve's wife Renee' joined the family.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the many healthcare workers and friends that helped her through her long battle.
