Harry A. "Bud" Merritt, 77, of Main Street, Kersey, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at his home. He was born on April 17, 1946 in Brockport, PA, a son of the late Harry and Ada Ruth Merritt.

On February 10, 1968, in Johnsonburg, PA, he married Catherine "Kitty" Kearney Merritt, who survives. Together they shared more than 55 years of love and laughter.

Harry was a lifelong resident of the area and served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam War. He retired from Arc Metals after many years of service. In his free time, Harry loved hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He always looked forward to his weekly breakfast with his friends and loved smoking cheese for his family. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Kitty of more than 55 years, he is survived by three children; Scott (Anna Lewis) Merritt of Weedville, Jill (Dave) Forster of Kersey, and Kelly (Buck Delucia) Merritt of Grampian; and by his five beloved grandchildren; Kevin Yeager, Nickolas Roberts, Alex Roberts, Marrissa Merritt, and Joey Forster. He is also survived by two sisters; Edna Cribbs of Ridgway and Nancy Trumbull of DuBois, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, including two special nieces; Breann Kearney and Shannon Harvey, and by a special friend; Mike Deemer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter in infancy; Natasha Rae Roberts, and by seven siblings; Art Merritt, Martha Chmielewski, Frank Merritt, Bernice Colson, Flora Carr, Daniel Merritt and Raymond Merritt in infancy.

Funeral Services for Harry A. "Bud" Merritt will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Krise Funeral Home, 339 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 with Pastor David Nagele officiating.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Fox Township Burial Detail.nBurial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Krise Funeral Home in Kersey on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
