Lila "Yiyi" Chambers Creech, (93) of Jefferson, NC entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 29th, 2023.
She is survived by son Steve Blackley (Georgia); sister Nelda Faye Stafford; numerous grand, great, and great-great grandchildren, several nieces/nephews and special friend of the family Larry Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Willis Blackley, Johnny McGhee, and Charles Creech; daughters, Joan Blackley Parrish and Sue Blackley Perry; sisters, Shirley Compton and Audrey Wright; and brothers, Tony, Travis, Edgar and Leonard Chambers.
Next to her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Lila loved her family and friends. She was an active member of Merritts Chapel Church in Chapel Hill and Union Chapel Church in Zebulon. Lila was always ready to give advice, celebrate in people's happiness and bring comfort in their sadness. She was known for her delicious cooking, especially her desserts, and was always ready to provide food and any other support needed because of her loving heart. She was a second mother to many people and recently was a source of encouragement and love to her friends at Historic Ashe Apartments in Jefferson, NC. This loving spirit continued during her stay at Generations Ashe Assisted Living, where she was blessed with many special nurses & caregivers. She will be greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy of a true example of the love of God to others.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, August 4, 2023, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Burial will follow at Merritt's Chapel Cemetery, Chapel Hill, NC.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home.
