"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
Proverbs 31:31

Annette Nichols, of Friendswood, Texas, passed on to her heavenly home in her sleep on July 24, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born on May 29, 1935 to James Monroe and Minnie Mae Hancock in Bishopville, Texas.

Annette grew up in the Franklin area and was a graduate of Franklin High School. She married Simon "Buddy" Walter Nichols on June 6, 1956 and worked as a practical nurse for Dr. Lindsey in Bryan, Texas helping put Buddy through Texas A & M, all while taking care of two young daughters. Buddy's work would move them to California, Georgia, Dallas and finally to Houston where they would raise their three young daughters.

Annette was a homemaker for many years and was active in volunteering at the girl's school, as a Girl Scout leader, gardening and thrived taking care of her family. Annette was a wonderful and natural care giver to all that crossed her path. She loved family gatherings and entertaining in her home where it was always a place you felt welcomed and loved. Annette had the most incredible gift of loving people well and making them feel like they belonged. She didn't know a stranger and would make friends wherever she went. She loved to laugh and joke around and was the "Queen of Sass!"

In 1976, Buddy's job would take the family to Kwajalein, a remote island in the Marshall Islands of the South Pacific. The journey there was Annette's first plane ride, and she embraced the adventure and enjoyed the island life for four and a half years. While on Kwaj, she again made her home a gathering place for new friends that became family. She worked at the post office and enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and attending kids' activities. She learned to swim, ride a bike and loved all aspects of island life.
After returning to Texas, the family moved to Friendswood where Annette would begin one of her favorite roles, becoming a grandmother and later a great-grandmother. Nanny absolutely adored her grandkids and loved spending time with them, playing with them, teaching them to cook, playing card games with them, but she was a fierce competitor and loved to win and was known on occasion to cheat. She also loved to play dominos with family.

Annette took care of several children in her home at different times over the years, loving them like they were her own, making a huge difference and impact on their lives as well.

Annette was such a unique, loving and giving soul. It's evident in the many lives she impacted and touched in such a positive way in her 88 years. She lived her life well, doing the most important thing, pouring into others and loving people. Nanny was one of a kind and the legacy she leaves is one of abundant love and all who knew her are better for it.

Annette was a resident of Friendswood Texas. She was a Christian and a member of the Friends Church in Liverpool, Texas.

Annette was proceeded in death by her parents, James Monroe Hancock and Minnie Mae Bishop, sisters Opal Green, Eddie Ruth Barnett, brothers, Wayne Hancock, Leslie "Punk" Hancock, James Hancock and infant brother, Travis Hancock and her son-in-law, Kenny Ray Boniface.

Annette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Simon "Buddy" Nichols, three daughters and a son in law, Ramona Rhea Boniface of Friendswood Texas, Judith Ann Van Wilpe and husband Scott of Rogers, Arkansas, Robin Lynne Nichols of Seabrook Texas, and son Mark Allen Williamson of Merkel,Texas.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kimberly Boniface and fiance' Greg Gilmore, Kasey Hartlieb and wife Beth, Tyler Hartlieb and wife Stephanie, Andrew Van Wilpe, Nikki Van Wilpe, Cortney Van Wilpe, Delaney Van Wilpe, four great grandchildren, Virginia Hartlieb, Magnolia Hartlieb, Landon Hartlieb and baby girl Hartlieb due in January 2024 and numerous other beloved family members.
