Uncle Joe was the oldest boy of six children born to Michael and Angeline Rohmer Kleiss. He and his brother John lived on a farm 3 miles west of Muenster during their adult life. Joe was not as healthy as his brother so he did the housework and cooked. He was stricken with kidney ailments and spent the last part of his life on dialysis and it eventually took his life. He was survived by his brothers Al Kleiss of Subiaco, Arkansas, and John Kleiss of the home, and three sisters Sr. Aloysia Kleiss of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Helen Hofbauer and Rosa Walterscheid of Muenster, numerous nieces and nephews.
