Black Mountain - Elli Albrecht Wettach, 83, of Black Mountain passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Highland Farms Retirement Center in Black Mountain.
Elli was born in Berlin, Germany June 2, 1921, the daughter of the late Anton Albrecht and Ella Budig Albrecht. She was the wife of 43 years of the late Richard Demmler Wettach whom preceded her in death in 1999, she was also preceded in death by her daughter; Ellen Ursula Wettach. She immigrated to the United States in 1956, moving to Kingsgate Road in Beverly Hills as a housewife and mother.In 1962 she and her late husband founded Beacon Travel Service on 80 Haywood Street, which later moved to its current location in Asheville and retired in 1979. She and her husband traveled thur out Europe and other counties. They spent the winter in Bonita Springs, Fla. She was a volunteer at Mission Hospital Auxiliary and at Highland Farms. She was an avid bridge player and loved crafts, and was an accomplished calligrapher. She thought of others first, living her life by the "Golden Rule". She was a member of the Black Mountain Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her stepdaughter; Susan E. Lloyd, of Washington, DC; son; John Frederick Wettach, and his wife MaryAnn, of Greensboro; brother; Werner Albrecht, of Breman, Germany; grandchildren; Meredith Leigh Wettach and Meagan Anne Wettach of Greensboro; and nieces, Joanie Parker of Boston, MA and Ann D. Emong of Middleberry, VT
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Highland Farms for the care and support they gave her.
Her final resting place will Lewis Memorial Park on Beaverdam Road.
