had answered the last call. We refer to the death of Mrs. Mathews, wife of Mr. S. A. Mathews, of Murinell Street, Gulargambone. Deceased was 51 years of age and had been a sufferer for some months. A daughter of the late John and Margaret Kearney, she was the first child of the family to be called to her reward. He father might justly be termed one of Gulargambone's pioneers, as he came to this district over sixty years ago, and many members of the family have never left the district. The late Mrs. Mathews was a prominent church worker, and seldom missed attending divine service at Gulargambone. She also was ever ready to assist all local movements whenever possible. Her passing removes a good citizen, and a devoted wife and fond mother. A widower, two sons and three daughters are left to mourn, and to these we extend our sincere sympathy in their sad bereavement. Rev. Father Eviston, of Gilgandra, officiated at the graveside, the remains being laid to rest in the Catholic portion of the Gulargambone cemetery. Funeral arrangements were carried out by Mrs. I. Ness, Coonamble.
