Roman "Romie" Anderegg, 83, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023, after a long health battle. Roman was born August 13, 1939, as the middle child to Arnold and Minnie Anderegg in Winter, Wisconsin. Winter, WI is where he would grow, attend school, and learn a strong work ethic on his family farm. A work ethic that would stick throughout the remainder of his life and leave a legacy for all those who knew him.

Romie married his sweetheart, Diane (Kempf) Anderegg on June 13, 1960, in Glidden, WI. Together they worked on the family farm until leaving for Manitowoc, WI for school and work. In 1963, Romie began working at Manitowoc Shipyards as a welder. He worked long, hard hours but took great pride in his work and supporting his family. Romie and Diane settled into the new area, making lasting friendships and starting their family. In 1970, they moved to Mishicot, WI, and they became active in the Holy Cross Parish. Romie joined the Knights of Columbus and took on a large volunteering role. Romie worked on the building and maintenance committee for many years, and not a church picnic went on without much effort from Romie. Through his church involvement, he made more lasting friendships. Romie and Diane enjoyed playing cards and camping with these friends and their families. Besides his appreciation for his friends and love for his family, Romie was an avid gardener, providing ample produce for his family. He took great pride in his garden and enjoyed all outside work. His children remember many conversations with dad in the garden, garage, or workshop, often while dad hand sharpened a mower blade or worked on another wood working project. Romie though, never a man of many words, led by example and taught the importance of hard work. Never needing to be in the limelight, Romie taught to just put your head down and get to work and that will be the message people will need from you. After a significant health issue left Romie paralyzed on his right side in 1990, he was forced to retire. While difficult, Romie adapted and continued all his passions. He became an even more engaged woodworker, making jigs and continuing to build with his one arm. He taught his children how to build, craft and garden, helping them to win awards with their projects and made many custom projects for family and friends. From picnic tables to benches to easter baskets, whatever one's mind could dream up Romie would figure out a way to build it.

He is preceded in death by his wife; his sons, Roman, Aaron, and Adam; his parents and parent in-laws, Rosellen and Nicholas Kempf; his brothers, Arnold and Conrad; daughter in-law, Yvette Anderegg (Adam); and many other family members and close friends.

Romie is survived by his children, Nathan (Jaimie) and Noalee (Adam) Stublaski; grandchildren, Cloee (Dustan and daughters, Magdalene and Ivory), Nathan Jr., Jared, Mikayla, Rylee, Reagan, Rhetta, Randa, Romie, Remington, and Riann.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Manitowoc Health Care Center for their many years of compassionate care for Romie and the staff at Edgewater Haven in Port Edwards, WI for welcoming Romie for his final days to ensure he was with family when his time here on earth was done.

Visitation will be at Holy Cross Catholic Parish in Mishicot from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday July 22, 2023, a Mass of Christian Burial to follow officiated by Father Christian.
