Isidore D. "Ike" Gengler
Age 91, of Chesaning, died Friday Morning, April 1, 1988, at St. Luke's Hospital in Saginaw. Mr. Gengler was retired from Peet Packing Co. and General Meats. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Chesaning on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wolfgang Streichardt officiating and burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home today after 5 pm. The family will be present to receive friends all day Sunday. Monday, Mr.Gengler will lie in state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a Scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday and Knights of Columbus rosary at 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Mr. Gengler was born in Landeck, Ohio on Jan. 15, 1897. He had lived in the Chesaning srea since 1910. On July 28, 1925 he married Cecilia Cieslinski. She predeceased him on Oct. 9, 1978. He was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2943 since 1919. Survivors include three sons, two daughters and their spouses, Wilfred and Angeline Gengler of New Lothrop, Lillian and Phil Bitterman of Clare, Isabelle and Philinus Birchmeier of Corunna, Raymond Gengler of Chesaning and James and Ann Gengler also of Chesaning; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchldren. He was preeded in death by two granddaughters five brothes and four sisters.
