DOLLY JOLLEY
Dies after Long Illness

R. S. (Dolly) Jolley, aged 88, died at his home in Corinth Community, Thursday, January 27, 1944. Until he was stricken with paralysis about a year and a half ago he was one of the county's most active citizens. For over seventy one years, he had resided on the farm where he built his first home out of logs.

He was born November 9, 1855, in Calhoun County, Georgia, the son of Lovania & Letha Lem Jolley with his parents he moved to Drew County, Arkansas, and reached Monticello November 5, 1872. In 1880, he settled on the homestead where he lived until his death.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wesley Cruce and Mrs. Evie McKinstry of Wilmar; and, eleven sons, Lem, Ed and Paul Jolley of Wilmar, Preston of Jackson, Mississippi, Bob of California, John of Detroit, Michigan, Joe of New Orleans, Louisiana, Tom of Little Rock, Claude, Charles and Woodrow Jolley of Warren, 31 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The pallbearers included, Lawrence Hurley, Edwin Hankins, D. L. Purkins, L. J. Burbridge, G. B. Colvin, K. B. Montgomery, Bill O'Neill and C. W. Hickman.

Funeral services were at Green Hill Church, Drew County, at two o'clock P.M., Friday, January 28, with the Rev. E. D. Galloway, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Warren in charge. Interment was in Green Hill cemetery where his parents were buried.
