Lester Joe Covington, age 83, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away, Thursday December 10, 2020. Joe enlisted in the United States Navy on October 8, 1954. He served in the Korean War as a Gunner's Mate and was proud to fight for his country. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Lee and Eliza Jane Covington; sisters, Nell Lawson, Murrell Anderson and Nancy Mink; brothers, Bill Covington, Howard Covington and Herman Covington; and grandson, Floyd Covington.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jessie Mae Covington; daughter, Kathleen Lane; sons, Donald (Jeanette) Covington, Floyd (Susan) Covington and Joe (Lorie) Covington; sisters, Martha Williams and Laverne Leak; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends, Sunday December 13, 2020 in the parlors of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The family will meet at Asbury Cemetery, for a 4:00 PM graveside service with Military Honors. Tom King to officiate.
