William Barksdale Obituary
A Charlottesville native, Bill was preceded by his father, William Albie Barksdale, Jr.; mother, Virginia Power Fitch; brother, Michael Barksdale; and sisters, Barbara Wallis and Virginia Zore.

He is survived by his sister, Cynthia Frentz (Tom) of Louisville, Ky.; brother Christopher Barksdale Sr. (Terri) of Nellysford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was an alumnus of Christchurch School and Rice University. After his education he worked for several years as a hunting and fishing guide in Montana. Afterwards, he pursued a career as a project manager in the construction industry working on commercial projects throughout the U.S.

As a train enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling by rail throughout the U.S. and Canada. Bill was the family genealogist (9th generation Virginian) who did extensive research and amazed us with his detailed memory of past ancestors. He was also an amateur wildlife photographer and birder who loved watching the Peregrine Falcons.

The family would like to give thanks to his special longtime friends and neighbors for all their help during his illness. We are very grateful.

Celebration of life plans are pending.
