Anchorage resident Max Maurice Bean, 79, died peacefully of a stroke June 8, 1995, at Health South Rehabilitation Center in Sandy, Utah. A funeral was at the Hawthorne Ward, 808 E. Roosevelt Ave. (1460 S.), where friends called one hour before services. Friends also called at the Pocatello 26th Ward, 3444 Hawthorne, Pocatello, Idaho. Interment and dedication of the grave was in the Teton Cemetery in Teton, Idaho.

Mr. Bean was born May 15, 1916, in Teton, to Clarence and Myrl Cluff Bean. After graduating from Rexburg High, he attended Brigham Young University and studied physics. He married Patricia Farnsworth Dec. 22, 1939, in Idaho. He began working for the Latter-day Saints Church Building Department. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Latter-day Saints Temple. Later, Mr. Bean was superintendent with R.S. Bowers Construction. He built churches and other quality projects in Wyoming, Hawaii, Idaho, Alaska, Ohio, Florida and Colorado. For many years, he was involved in ham radio broadcasting and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol In Idaho. Mr. Bean moved to Anchorage 15 years ago. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and was also an avid reader and crossword puzzle pro, his family said. ''Max was loved by many and touched the hearts of those who knew him. His family will remember him for his hard work and for being a great husband, father and friend,'' his family said.

Mr. Bean is survived by his wife, Patricia of Anchorage; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Kudla of Escondido, Calif., Billie and Ted Bollwinkel of Mesa, Ariz., Beth Ann and Marlo Millard of Anchorage, and Beverly and Ron Metzger of Juneau; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Carma of Hawaii, Barry and Norma, of Oceanside, Calif., and Brian and Lindy of Salt Lake City; 31 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jerry and Dick Powell and Thayl and Ralph Olsen. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Wilma.
