Professional Football Player. For six seasons (1971 to 1976), he played at the running back position in the National Football League with the Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Oilers. Born Frederick Francis Willis III, he attended Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire and played collegiate football at Boston College. While with the Eagles, Willis earned the distinction as being the first running back in the school's history to surpass the 1,000 rushing yardage mark (1970) while earning All-American honors. Selected by the Cincinnati Bengals during the 4th round of the1971 NFL Draft, he totaled 77 career regular season games. During his rookie season (1971), he produced career-highs with 590 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. After retiring from football, he founded a number of restaurants and was a voice on behalf of former NFL players who suffered from brain trauma during their careers. He was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1977.
