David grew up in Phillips where he attended Phillips Educational System. He graduated in 1967 and shortly after was married to Elaine (Muns) on May 18th, 1968 in Highland Baptist Church, Pampa, Texas. Upon receiving a draft notice from the United States Army he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam and he was also stationed in Rota, Spain for two years. David received an honorable discharge in 1972 and he moved his family back to the Texas panhandle where he found employment with Phillips Petroleum. David worked with the company through the merge with Chevron working in the manufacturing plant and worked his way up to a Logistics Supervisor. Before his retirement, he suffered 2 heart attacks and received a heart transplant before his retirement in 2011. David was a miracle and a fighter who proudly served his county, loved his family, and cherished his wife of 55 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Dennis Vines; and 2 sister, LaNelda Hughes and Roxanne Redman.
David is survived by his wife, Elaine, of the home; 2 children, Scott Vines, Owasso, OK, and Staci Carson, Perryton, TX; 4 grandchildren, Allison White, Madison Denton, Cash Carson, and Mason Vines and a host of other relatives and friends.
