Shirley Kelly Bolt, born March 22, 1936, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 30, 2023, while at home with family by her bedside.
Shirley graduated from Girls High in Anderson, SC in 1954 and Atlanta School for Business, Atlanta, GA in 1956. In the 1970's, Shirley owned and operated an Arts and Craft Store in Atlanta, Georgia. After moving back to Anderson in 1980, she worked for the Anderson Police Department as Secretary to the Chief of Police for 22 years. Shirley was a member of Concord Baptist Church and volunteered for many years at the Anderson Hospital.
Shirley was devoted to her family and while raising her children served as PTA President, Touchdown Club President, Brownie leader, Team Mother and Room Mother. Her most cherished memories are watching her children and grandchildren play sports and traveling to watch the Clemson Tigers play. Shirley also enjoyed traveling, visiting every state in the U.S., Europe, Russia, New Zealand, and Australia.
Shirley is known for always having a smile on her face and never meeting a stranger. She could talk to anyone and make them feel special. She was known to her grandchildren as "Ninny."
She was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Pearline Kelly, and her sister, Ann Kelly.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Bolt, Jr., 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother Hal Kelly and 2 cherished pets who stayed by her bedside: Kenny Bolt (wife Patricia); Kelly Boulware (husband Danny) and their children, Justin (wife Legare), Brandon (wife Kristi) and Quintin; Krystal Boulware (husband Jamie) and their children Garrett (wife Kelsey); Ben (wife Hanna), Bailee (husband Taylor) and Cameron; Kyle (wife Sarah) and children Austin (wife Georgia), Kody (wife Megan), Abby (husband Gray) and Carson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her family is forever grateful to the caregivers that loved and cared for her the past several months.
Burial will be at New Prospect Baptist Church.
