Helen Stanley, age 92, of DeSmet, formerly of Clark, died peacefully with family by her side on Monday, June 26, 2023 at her home in DeSmet.

Helen Stanley was born in Garden City, SD on September 1st, 1930 to Christian and Rose (Alt) Bachman.

Funeral services will be at the DeSmet Methodist Church at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 with visitation one hour preceding the service. Pastor Tia Felberg will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Clark, SD.

She attended 3 different Country Grade Schools (2 in Henry and 1 in Watertown), Helen then graduated High School in Watertown, SD in 1948.

Helen was united in marriage on September 1st, 1949 to Everett Stanley where they lived on a farm south of Clark. They welcomed 5 children: Dale May 22nd ,1951, Dennis June 2nd,1953, Deborah July 13th,1955, Doris November 2nd ,1958, and Dianne May 5th 1963.

In 1968 due to Everett's health, they moved in to Clark where she was the cook in the Clark Lanes from 1968-1976. From 1976-1982 she was the cook at the Corner Café' and then returned to the Clark Lanes until 1990. She then retired to take care of Everett and prepare their house for sale.

Helen and Everett moved to Watertown to the Towers Apartment. While there Helen altered bridal dresses. Everett then passed May 28th, 1994.

In 2006, she moved to DeSmet and helped Doris with her Daycare. Along with loving all the daycare kids, Helen's hobbies included doing puzzles, sewing, baking, along with lots of other crafts and lately Helen has been doing a lot of diamond art.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, parents Christian and Rose Bachman, an infant sister, her brother Melvin Bachman and her 2 sons Dale and Dennis Stanley.

Left to treasure her memory are daughters Deborah (Terry) Hieb of Mellette, Doris (Duane) Poppen of Aberdeen, Dianne Karber of Bancroft, 2 daughters-in-law Arlene and Patti, brother Laverne (Ada) Bachman of Clarkston, Washington, sister-in-law Evie Bachman of Watertown, along with 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren with another one on the way.
