Mary Geneva Hooven
passed away peacefully on April 27, 2011 at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia, California. Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on April 18, 1925, "Gee", as she was affectionately known to her family, moved to Torrance, California with her husband in 1954.

Active for many years in local political and community affairs, Mary was involved in many aspects of life in Torrance for over fifty years. She was a constant source of warmth and happiness to her many friends and family and her easy smile and twinkling eyes will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Hooven in 1994. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

A visitation is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary in Torrance on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Services will follow May 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the same location. All of her family and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

Note: It is possible that she was born in Cogar, Caddo County, Oklahoma, as that is where her father was farming at the time of her birth. It was in a rural area about 14 miles north and 6 miles east of Anadarko.
