Obituary for Princess Penelope
(Penny Penny, Penny Lou)

Born July 7, 2007-Journey ended here December 31, 2022

Penny was a wonderful and wonderfully complicated little kitty. As cats go she was very much the Matriarch and rather sophisticated as well, but always, always quite the lady.

She lived a long happy if not a somewhat judgmental and definitely opinionated life but kept most of her disdain for jerks like me. Much of it well deserved. OK all of it well deserved.

She was a Harry Potter fan, and stated many times in our conversations, that she found it rather odd that a wizard as powerful as Voldemort, she wasn't scared to utter his name, had to wait each year until "prom season" before he attacked small children. Get them earlier in the school year when they least expect it she always said. She thought it quite the tactical mistake to give them so much time to prepare. Dumb Voldy.

Speaking of small children, she was somewhat tolerant of them , which only made them desire her good favor that much more, and she emphasized, she only bit them when absolutely necessary. They new what they did , I often heard her mutter under her breath. She did love them though and raised at least four small to medium sized Goble children from kitten to adulthood and was very much doing the same with diminutive grand children. Who knew dismissiveness and disdain were such good child raising tactics?

Besides being a Harry Potter, fan she also loved Jane Austen, especially Pride and Prejudice. The Character Lady 'Cat'herine de Bourgh was one she very much identified with, especially in regards to music. Penny also believed, like Lady 'Cat'herine, that if she had "learnt she would have been a great proficient" as well. "But alas", her words not mine, "if only we had a piano forte?" Next time love, next time.

She did not suffer fools or Manchester City fans. Unlike many she could not be bought off with dirty oil money. Like her mother, she was a Tottenham Hotspur fan. Chickens are cute. And not suffering fools also meant that she never found a single joke told by her great benefactor, moi, funny ever. EVER. Lo how I tried, lo how I tried.

Speaking of funny things, she also loved the Twilight series of books. She read them all or at least licked them at times but definitely watched the movies. Even with all of the many different plot holes she was still entertained. She did find the parts about werewolves and anything remotely canine utterly ridiculous. Sexy, 100 year old teenage vampires on the other hand, totally believable to a cat. Totally.

She watched every episode of Friends multiple times and absolutely believes that "THEY WERE ON A BREAK". Jeez Louise. Also, "PIVOT!"

She had many different opinions with one she held deeply and that is that Die Hard is absolutely a Christmas movie, and, even better, if she could go all John Wick on your ass she most definitely would. "Damn non opposable thumbs" she muttered through gritted teeth. At least when she was glaring at me. Luckily I dodged a bullet with that one, or at least 757 bullets most likely. And one hand grenade.

She loved her belly rubbed and that wonderful little glove with the blue plastic spikes that scratched her back purrrfectly.

She didn't like baking that much, really at all, but when Pete asked her to she did bake a birthday cake for Evelyn this year but always felt that baking was, to put it crudely, peasant work. Her words not mine. Remember, she was rather opinionated and a bit of a Downton Abby fan as it turns out.

She also loved looking at herself in the mirror. She was very beautiful and not just beautiful for a cat. She was a connoisseur of heating vents and knew the best ones to visit every day

In all seriousness she was actually purfection as a friend and a feline.

She is survived by her favorite lap and Knitter Alesha Berry Goble, human siblings Kennedi Shaw, Will Goble, Sam Goble, Evelyn Goble as well as her good cat friend and roommate Sophie.

Preceded by Pete, Jethro, CJ, Mama Kitty, and Olive to name a few.

As for me, I would just like Penny to know that it was an honor to pick her up and drive her to our house and family 15 1/2 years ago, and to be the one that drove with her and her mom as we let her find her way home.

Thank you Penny.
