Philip Henry Bousley of Greencastle, formerly of Vincennes, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2023 in his home with his family. He was born in Bridgeport, Illinois on May 9, 1940 to Retha (Ping) and Henry Bousley. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years Carol (Wiswall) Bousley; sons Brian (Michelle) Bousley and Jason (Koren) Bousley; grandchildren Brooke Bousley, AJ Bousley, and Jakob Bousley; in-laws Joe Wiswall, Chuck (Patty) Wiswall, Faye (Wayne) Rains, Paula (Bob) Platt, Pat (Paul) Dunham, and Bobby (Harriet) Wiswall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Danny Bousley; siblings Gene Bousley, Marjorie (Rich) Harriman, Don (Gloria) Bousley, Mervin (Jeannie) Bousley, Lois (Silly Sully) Miller, and Lillian (Raymond) Blackwell.

Phil was a microbiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes from 1968 until he retired in 2006. He was in charge of teaching lab personnel. He also taught sociology at Vincennes University. After completing his masters degree at the University of Houston, he completed a year of field work in India. Phil was a genealogy enthusiast and spent many hours with his wife researching their family histories. He enjoyed judging swimming and was in charge of swim conferences for many years. Phil was heavily involved in the catholic church and was awarded the Simon Brute award from the diocese of Evansville. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and St. Francis Xavier Parish. One of his biggest joys in life were his three grandchildren on whom he thought the sun rose and set.

The Bousley family will accept loved ones and friends at the Bousley Funeral Home on Sunday, April 16 from 4 to 6PM for local residents. A second visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, April 22 from 9AM to 12PM with a funeral mass at 12PM. Father Tony Ernst will officiate. Burial will follow in Bridgeport City Cemetery in Bridgeport, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Phil's name to the Christian Education Foundation or Sacred Heart Church.
