Her husband called her "Francis" with an I in his letters he wrote to her during the civil war. He died at the end of the civil war and is buried at the Fairgrounds Post Hospital Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. between Farmer Street and Augusta Avenue.
On her marriage to John William Joyce in Stokes County, NC on 1-15-1857 she is listed as Frances Martin.
