Henry Fager was born in Northumberland county, Pa., July 17, 1827, and died in Overbrook, Kan., Oct. 31, 1909. aged 82 years, 3 months and 14 days.

He went to Illinois with his parents when that country was termed the Far West. He served as a solder during the Mexican war. After his discharge he returned to his home in Pennsylvania, but soon decided that the west offered better opportunities to young men.

After his marriage to Ellaminah Stoffey, they lived several years in Ogle county, Ill., before settling in Douglas County, Kan., in 1859. They endured all the trials incident to life on the frontier to which were added the alarms of war during the early 1860s. They moved to Overbrook in 1892 where they had since made their home.

He was survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. J. P. Banker.
