MECALIE ANN PHILLIPS
Wife of James A. Graham,
1850-1930, Mother of
Sally Betty Graham Evans,
1872-1948, & grandmother
of Lillie Pearl Evans
Ginn 1895-1961. Three
generations buried in
Damascus Cemetery.
Mrs. Graham was half
Cherokee Indian and
those who knew her said
she had many Indian ways.
She changed her name often.
Each US Census from 1870
through 1910 has her listed
by a different name.
1910 - Phillips (which is
apparently her maiden name).
1900 - Amelia Ann.
1880 - Annette. 1870 - Ann M.
However, Preston Graham
remembers a lot & has
researched extensively,
says her original name was
MECALIE ANN PHILLIPS.
