Bill was born in Davis, Oklahoma as the youngest sibling to a family of 10 children. He was a dedicated non-commissioned officer (NCO), serving 20 years and many deployments during his vast career in the army. He met and married his loving wife, Helen in 1959, and spent many years in various foreign countries and different locations throughout the US.
He retired from the Army in August of 1966 while stationed at Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma with many decorations and commendations from his selfless service and dedication.
After his retirement from the US Army, Bill began a career with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. He spent many years working with and managing several Fish Hatcheries around the state, finishing his career in Medicine Park, Oklahoma where he retired after 20+ years.
Bill was a very patriotic man who loved his family, fishing, hunting, gardening and friends. He had a special passion for golf, whether playing or watching. He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and especially his great grandchildren. He also adored his closet friends and neighbors, John & Betina Perry and their two children, Fischer and MaKenzie who spent many hours helping and caring for Bill during his time spent living next to them.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Virgil and Ollie (Broom) Brashears. He was also preceded in death by 5 sisters; Jewel, Bertha, Ella Mae, Mildred and Norma along with 4 brothers; D.V., James, Kenneth, and Galen. Bill was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Jones) in May 2013 and son William Brashears Jr. in Oct 2016.
Bill is survived by his loving children: Michelle Munda of Oklahoma City, OK and Lorna (Brashears) & Curt Olesnevich of Shawnee, OK. Grandchildren: Benjamin Munda of Oklahoma City, OK, Jonathan & Amber (Morrow) Guzman of Peoria, AZ, and Scott & Bethany (Meiwes) Morrow of Piedmont, OK. Great-grandchildren: Daxton Colt and Maggie Rose Morrow.
