James Artman, pioneer Jackson county settler and father of J. S. Artman of Denison, died at his son’s home Wednesday morning. He was 89 years old. Besides his son he leaves two daughters in Denver, one at Excelsior Springs and one at Larkinburg.

J. M. Artman was born at Parksville, Mo., Sept. 2, 1832, and died Oct. 6, 1920. He was married to Lucinda Jane Hubbard, Jan. 3, 1856. To this union were born 10 children, 4 boys and six girls; 3 boys and 1 girl having departed this life. He leaves one son, Stephen, and five daughters, Mrs. E. S. Ward, Mrs. Anna Hoenshell, Mrs. Ada Nash, Mrs. Jennie Dustman, Mrs. Katie Tilton, besides one brother, two sisters, 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the M. E. church 47 years. His wife preceded him 20 years ago .... Burial was made in the Larkinburg cemetery.
