Alexander Van Valkenburg a veteran of the civil war died at his home at Burtonsville, Thursday, April 1st after a few days' illness of bronchialpneumonia aged 80 years, one month and 25 days. Mr. Van Valkenburg enlisted as a private in Company I 76th regiment, New York volunteer infantry, at Cherry Vally in 1861, and was discharged in Virginia in June 1864. He was a native of Summit, Schoharie county. He is survived by his widow, of delanson. and eight children. The funeral was held at the house at 2 o'clock Saturday after-noon, the Rev. Mr. Lewis officiating. Interment in the Clayton family plot.
